Dataset specification

  • Title: GeoBasis Zackenberg - Meteorology - M6_60min
  • Description: "The meteorological station M6 was in function from 2006-2012. M6 was located near the top of the mountain Dome. The surface underneath the mast is a gravel plateau without vegetation. From November 2010 to June 2011 no data was recorded from the station, due to storage modul failure. Different parameters are recorded with different frequency and the three files from the M6 station contain different variables. GeoBasis_Zack_Meteorology_M6_10min: Wind speed, wind gust and wind direction is measured every 10th minute. Wind sensor broke in October 2008. GeoBasis_Zack_Meteorology_M6_60min: Air temperature, ground temperature, relative humidity and air pressure is measured every hour. Values from June 2011 to July 2012 are measured without radiation shield. GeoBasis_Zack_Meteorology_M6_180min: Snow depth is measured every third hour. From 2006 - 2008 the sensor was mounted on a separate mast. From October 2008 to October 2010 the sensor was broken, whereafter it was mounted on the M6 mast. Data was recorded on a CR10x campbell scientific data logger. A list of parameters recorded at the station can be seen in the documentation of each column. " Meteorology:Meteorology GeoBasis Zackenberg:The GeoBasis monitoring programme focuses on selected abiotic characteristics in order to describe the state of Greenlandic terrestrial environments and their potential feedback effects in a changing climate. Monitored plot data is up-scaled to a landscape level and is used to improve ecosystem models to be able to quantify these feedback mechanisms. The GeoBasis programme provides an active response to recommendations in international assessments such as ACIA and SWIPA; and is continuously being adapted based on AMAP and other international founded recommendations. Furthermore, the GeoBasis programme is directly involved in several international networks and research projects (e.g. the Circumpolar Active Layer Monitoring (CALM) programme, the Nordic Centre of Excellence DEFROST, the Danish Centre of Excellence CENPERM, the EU-projects PAGE21 and INTERACT, and the Arctic Research Centre at Aarhus University). The GeoBasis programme is divided into a number of sub-groups, including:
