Dataset specification

  • Title: GeoBasis Zackenberg - Soil properties - All_Soil_water_chemistry
  • Description: This file contains data from all soil water sites. The first column denotes the sampling site. The different sites are: S1: Located south of the snow patch in ZC-2. Measurements from 1996-1998. the site is dominated by grass vegetation. Soil water samplers (suction cup lysimeters) are installed in depths of 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 cm below soil surface. Depending on the soil water content and rain fall during the season, there might only be one og two samples from each depth and sometimes none. S2: 8263950, 513016 Measuremens from 1997-2004. Located south of snow patch in ZC-2. The site is domintaed by grass vegetation. Soil water samplers (suction cup lysimeters) are installed in depths of 10, 20, 30 & 50 cm below soil surface. Depending on the soil water content and rain fall during the season, there might only be one og two samples from each depth and sometimes none. S3: 8263950, 513016 Measurements from 2002-2008. Located next to S2 soil water site south of snow patch in ZC-2.the site is dominated by grass vegetation. Soil water samplers (suction cup lysimeters) are installed in depths of 10, 20, 30 & 50 cm below soil surface. Depending on the soil water content and rain fall during the season, there might only be one og two samples from each depth and sometimes none. Sal-1: 8264649, 513045 Operation period from 2003-2006. Soil water samplers (suction cup lysimeters) are installed in depths of 5, 10 and 15 cm below soil surface. Located on the heath with domination Salix vegetation. Depending on the soil water content and rain fall during the season, there might only be one og two samples from each depth and sometimes none. Sal-2: 8264692, 513723 Installed in 2004. Soil water samplers (suction cup lysimeters) are installed in depths of 5, 10 and 30 cm below soil surface. Located on the heath with dominating Salix vegetation. Depending on the soil water content and rain fall during the season, there might only be one og two samples from each depth and sometimes none. Dry-1: 8265045, 513816 Dry-1 is located on a dry area with Dryas vegetation. Soil water samplers (suction cup lysimeters) are installed in depths of: 5 and 10 cm below soil surface. Dry-1 operation periode from 2004 to 2006. Dry-2: 8265563, 513365 Dry-2 i located on a dry area with Dryas vegetation. Soil water samplers (suction cup lysimeters) are installed in depths of: 5, 10 and 15 cm below soil surface. Dry-2 operation periode from 2003 to 2004. K1: K1 was placed on the well-drained Cassiope heath close to the climate station close to K2. Soil water samplers (suction cup lysimeters) are installed in depths of: 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 cm below soil surface. K1 operation periode from 1996 to 2001. K2: 8264760, 513365 Soil water samplers (suction cup lysimeters) are installed in depths of: 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 cm below soil surface. K2 was installed in 1996 on the well-drained Cassiope heath close to the climate station. Soil water is sampled three times during the season. Depending on the soil water content and rain fall during the season, there might only be one og two samples from each depth and sometimes none. K3: 8264753, 513349 This site was installed in 2002 to replace K2. K3 is located adjacent to K2 on the well-drained Cassiope heath close to the climate station. Soil water samplers (suction cup lysimeters) are installed in depths of: 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 cm below soil surface. Soil water is sampled three times during the season. Depending on the soil water content and rain fall during the season, there might only be one og two samples from each depth and sometimes none. Mix-1: 8265810, 513567 Soil water samplers (suction cup lysimeters) are installed in depths of: 5, 10 and 30 cm below soil surface. Measurements from 2002 - and ongoing. Located on mixed vegetation. Depending on the soil water content and rain fall during the season, there might only be one og two samples from each depth and sometimes none. Rylekæret: 8265571, 513277 Soil water is extracted in the Fen, in the vicinity to the Automatic Chamber site. Between 2011 (installation year) - 2014 soil water was extracted from the soil through suction cups lysimeters, installed in depths of: 10, 20, 30 and 40 cm below soil surface. The site is dominated by fen vegetation and clay/silty soil. From 2015-2017 water was extracted using portable water extraction tubes, from 5 and 10 cm depth. Soil properties:Soil properties GeoBasis Zackenberg:The GeoBasis monitoring programme focuses on selected abiotic characteristics in order to describe the state of Greenlandic terrestrial environments and their potential feedback effects in a changing climate. Monitored plot data is up-scaled to a landscape level and is used to improve ecosystem models to be able to quantify these feedback mechanisms. The GeoBasis programme provides an active response to recommendations in international assessments such as ACIA and SWIPA; and is continuously being adapted based on AMAP and other international founded recommendations. Furthermore, the GeoBasis programme is directly involved in several international networks and research projects (e.g. the Circumpolar Active Layer Monitoring (CALM) programme, the Nordic Centre of Excellence DEFROST, the Danish Centre of Excellence CENPERM, the EU-projects PAGE21 and INTERACT, and the Arctic Research Centre at Aarhus University). The GeoBasis programme is divided into a number of sub-groups, including:
